Najib vows to do his best for Merlimau and Kerdau

JASIN: Prime Minister and Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak thanked voters in both constituencies for the overwhelming support for the coalition.

“I would like to thank the voters in Merlimau and Kerdau for supporting Barisan,” he said in a tweet after the results were announced last night.

“The big wins are very significant. We will do our best for them,” he added.

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said Barisan’s impressive victories were an endorsement of the economic and social programmes initiated by the Government under Najib’s leadership.

“It looks like the Prime Minister’s transformation programme has been well received by the voters in both places,” he said.

At the same time, Muhyiddin said the voters had clearly rejected PAS. “This is an indication that the party’s struggles are not accepted by the Malays,” said the Barisan deputy chairman.

“This is not the first time,” he pointed out. “They have been defeated in Galas and Batu Sapi, and today in Merlimau and Kerdau.
