Wednesday November 10, 2010 Sabah PKR secretary ‘fed-up’ and plans to quit Stories by WANI MUTHIAH, SIRA HABIBU, LEE YUK PENG, RACHAEL KAM, KAREN CHAPMAN, A. RUBAN, P. ARUNA and MUGUNTAN VANAR KOTA KINABALU: Sabah PKR secretary Mursalim Tanjul is set to quit the party as he is “fed-up” with the excessive internal politicking. However, Mursalim, a well-liked leader from northern Sabah, did not want to say his reason was the on-going feud between Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Datuk Zaid Ibrahim. “I am tired of all the politicking. I just want to quit,” he said, adding that he would hand over his resignation letter in the next two or three days. Asked if it was because of the latest feud in PKR, he replied: “I won’t want to say so. “I would like to say I have been neglecting my business, which is doing badly. I have to take a rest from too much politicking.” Mursalim, who is Kudat PKR division chief, said he had met his division committee members and told them that he planned to call it quits. “I want to thank everyone for their support, whatever happens we are still friends,” said Mursalim. During the just-concluded Batu Sapi by-election, he was punched at the Sandakan airport by a rival faction member over the choice of PKR candidate Ansari Abdullah for the by-election. Sabah PKR is divided between Ansari, who is aligned to Anwar, and vice-president Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan, aligned to Zaid. Dr Jeffrey opted not to contest in the current party polls but gave his support to Zaid. |
